I'm a CIBTAC and BABTAC qualified facialist based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and I treat one thing properly rather than everything at once: SkinPen microneedling for acne scarring, texture and early signs of ageing.

    How I trained

My training is CIBTAC and BABTAC accredited — the qualification route that puts skin anatomy, contraindications and barrier health first rather than treating a device as a shortcut. I went on to qualify as a SkinPen certified practitioner so I could work with a medical-grade device that has genuine clinical backing behind it, rather than one of the many cheaper pens on the market.

In 2024 I was a finalist for Facialist of the Year at the CIBTAC/BABTAC Awards, which still means a great deal to me because it was judged on treatment standards and client care rather than marketing.

    Why SkinPen only

SkinPen Precision was the first microneedling device to gain FDA clearance, and it behaves predictably: sterile single-use cartridges, controlled depth, and a consistent response across skin types and tones — including deeper skin tones that lasers and strong peels do not always suit. Microneedling works cumulatively, so I recommend a course of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart for most concerns, with acne scarring usually needing more sessions than texture or early ageing.

    How I work

Every treatment starts with a proper consultation: skin history, medication, previous treatments and what you actually want to change. If microneedling isn't the right answer for your skin, I will tell you so. Afterwards you get clear written aftercare — skin kept completely clear for 24 hours, then straight back to your normal routine — and you can message me between appointments with anything that comes up.

    Where to find me

I'm a resident facialist at Hair + Beauty Bar, 5 The Arcade, Hitchin, Hertfordshire SG5 1ED — a few minutes from Hitchin town centre and easy to reach from Letchworth, Stevenage, Baldock and Harpenden. Availability is deliberately limited: I work one Saturday a month, so dates go quickly.

The best way to reach me is the waiting list, or email amy.halls.facialist@gmail.com. Not sure where to start? The skin quiz takes a minute, or read the journal.
